CHICAGO, Sept 30 (Reuters) – The U.S. Agriculture
Department on Thursday pegged U.S. corn stocks as of Sept. 1 at
1.708 billion bushels, above trade for 1.412 billion bushels.
Stocks stood at 1.673 billion a year ago.
The USDA, in its quarterly grain stocks report, estimated
soybean ending stocks on Sept. 1 at 151.1 million bushels,
above trade estimates for 150 million.
Since the marketing year for corn and soybeans ends on Aug.
31, the quarterly stocks are also the beginning stocks for
2010/11.
Wheat stocks were estimated by the USDA at 2.459 billion
bushels, above trade estimates for 2.423 billion.
The USDA forecast U.S. wheat production this year at 2.224
billion bushels, below trade estimates for 2.261 billion. It
pegged the U.S. spring wheat crop at 626.9 million bushels,
below trade estimates for 633 million bushels.
